David Tennant

David Tennant was born David John McDonald in Bathgate, West Lothian. He grew up Ralston, Renfrewshire, where his father was the local minister. He went to Ralston Primary and Paisley Grammar School and continued onto the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He adopted the screen name David Tennant because there was already an actor with the name David McDonald. He started out performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He had lead roles in several BBC Dramas including Takin' Over the Asylum, He Knew He Was Right, Blackpool, Casanova and The Quatermass Experiment. He had film roles in the following: Bright Young Things, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Jude.
